What time is it??? GAME TIME!!!! HUUHH!

Friends, this is a guest entry authored by none other than Katie Whorf and Molly Danner. The Monforton/Garbon/Brown/Whorf/Norton/Danner crew has completely taken over the surgical intensive care waiting area. Bagels, coffee, chocolate chip banana bread and lots more chocolate, care of Sal, are providing sustenance to everyone as we wait.

The pregame huddle took place in her pre-op room. We managed to have one of the nurses snap a photo of "Team Dana" once she was drugged enough to allow photos to be captured. The surgical resident, a MSU Spartan, gave us the game plan. They will remove some of the tumor and send it to pathology. Once the pathologist decides which type of tumor it is, the rest of the plan will be determined. There are two options. The first is that the tumor will be easily removed. The second type of tumor responds better to radiation and chemotherapy. In this case, they will stop the surgery and we'll move on to plan B: radiation and chemo.

Dana was in great spirits this morning and was thankful for everyone's signs of support. She is surrounded by a sea of hot pink, bedazzled, unicorned, cupcaked and floral embellished "Team Dana" uniforms. We were also able to play Dana a slideshow of friends and family who couldn't be here physically today showing their "Team Dana" pride.

The surgery is expected to last a few hours. We'll post further updates as more info becomes availble.
