The Waiting Game

I am waiting until I have to leave the parents' house to collect my brother from the airport. I am very tired, my neck is a-killin' me, and I know that tomorrow will be just insane. The Mom has offered to take the job, but that would be breaking several years of tradition.

Ok, decision made. I can't go to bed at 3am and expect to pull my weight at work tomorrow. Yeah, there's one more difference between 19-year-old Dana and 27-year-old Dana. Nineteener Dana prided herself on functioning on very little sleep. Twenty-sevener Dana is a little wiser. To that end, I am off to sleep. I am trying to set aside the mental picture of the literal haystack-sized pile of items that need the creative ass-kicking that can only be unleashed by my colleagues and me. We're going to turn that mother out.

Before I hit the pillow, in other news-- I started watching that show The Sing-Off, to sublimate until Glee resumes. And I'm somewhat impressed. A few notes:

  • Nicole Scherzinger drives me up the wall. Does anyone else feel like she needs to be told, in loud tones, that she is not Christina, Janet, Mariah, Celine, Rihanna, etc?! She makes it seem like she's the supreme celebrity judge, but a) Shawn Stockman was one-fourth of one the most successful musical groups of all time, and his group made their names on good song-crafting and vocals, not on filling the vacuum that The Spice Girls left behind...and b) HELLO! You are sitting next to Ben FUCKING Folds!! She is the second-tier meat in a talent sandwich.
  • The girl with the dark curly hair in The So-Cals needs to take singing lessons from any of the cast members of Glee.
  • I want to date a Beelzebub.
  • What the FUCK were the judges thinking in giving "Hazy Shade of Winter" to The So-Cals? And what the FUCK were The So-Cals thinking in that performance? That is one of my all-time favorite songs, particularly when on a jukebox, and it could easily be a great acapella tune. However, that was just not the case tonight. Yowza. I just hope that Susanna Hoffs wasn't watching.
Aaaaand, scene.
