Two interesting pieces of political criticism were presented to me over the past few days, and working in concert, they've given me a fresh perspective on our government.
The first was a clip from The Rachel Maddow Show-- whether or not you skew to the left like her, she makes a great point.

It's a bit dizzying, but truly, this is an important thing to consider. It isn't difficult to identify the reason why the GOP is playing the game like this-- they want to win big in November, and right now, the best way they can do that is to distance themselves as far as possible from POTUS. It makes a lot of sense, politically. It's not very effective governing for the present day, but it's possible that it will lead to some opportunities in the future. I'm having trouble figuring out why the hell the Dems are so tied to the idea of bipartisanship-- it sounds great in theory, but it can't happen right now. So, in the mean time, howzabout we just get some shit done!?
The second piece was sent to me by Bro-Joe, from Slate.com--

I like any columnist that takes the American public to task. Period, the end.
