"And how!"

The title of this entry is a Paul Monfortonism (the man being my paternal grandfather, and the first captain of the Windsor Spitfires); it's used to apply affirmative emphasis. Sample:

Pepe: So, are you feeling better today, doll?

Dana: Yeah, I am. I woke up without too much pain; it was more just stiffness than anything else, so I think that's a good sign.

Pepe: Oh, and how!

I could probably write a book solely on Monfortonisms...but that's one of my favorites, and I already got to hear it today. I can't even use it myself because it doesn't sound right coming out of my mouth...it's only appropriate when Pepe (or Grandma) says it. Maybe it's the slight Canuck accent. I don't know. I'm think I'm having another one of those overdramatic moments where I feel genuine sadness and sympathy for people who don't share my relatives. I might start the eye-leaking again...today was already shaping up well, (I was able to put my hair into a barrette for the first time since surgery!), I got an "and how!" from Pepe, and it's too much awesomeness to bear. I hope Molly or Katie doesn't call me for the next few hours because that will absolutely start the ridiculous chick-flick levels of happy tears. And I better not see any puppies either...

  1. Dana~ Congrats on winning the battle of the barrette. Huge accomplishments are found in small steps. Re: your insight into two year olds....That was a little harsh. Remember there are those of us that remember you well as a two year old....Logical? Not even close. But cute as hell....
    btw~check your email.
    Hugs,
    j~
