And so it begins...

Good evening from my grandma's house! (Gramcakes made her famous stringy pot roast for dinner tonight, and I am thanking the Divine in all its permutations for providing me with a functioning olfactory capability, and protecting that capability during surgery. Because, DAMN.)

Convalescence has started off smoothly. Leaving the hospital was easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy (tough to say goodbye to the professional arm of Team Dana, though), and after eating the hell out of some Skyline, I took a lovely nap, and was woken up by my aunt Mary, she of the sparkly shoes! She flew in this evening and it's great to have her here.

The other exciting aspect of this evening was-- I know, hold onto your hats-- showering! That's right! I no longer smell of "gorilla dick" (that's my sister's estimation, sweet-as-pie, isn't she?)! The nurse put a waterproof seal over my incision right before I left, so I could shower fully, wash my hair, and then once I was clean, I can remove the waterproofing and replace it with clean, easy dressing. I think I might stop referring to my incision henceforth...yeah..."oozing" and "drainage" are really not in my wheelhouse. Anyway, I am clean, relatively comfortable, and happy to be home. Tomorrow is going to be a great day.

And I get to sleep on my side tonight! [cue "Let The Sunshine In/Aquarius"]
