I am blessed to have a decent-sized group of people who care if I'm hospitalized. However, keep all of them fully updated is quite a task, particularly when I'm already tired/dizzy/whatever. So, I will try to get any pertinent information onto this blog as soon as my little fingers allow.
At this point, I am being treated at Christ Hospital...my room is in the 2-South wing, #2025. (The phone number in my room is 513.585.4225 should you need to contact me. ) I am here because MRIs of my spinal column showed growths in my spinal cord, up near my neck. These growths are blocking my spinal fluid from draining and doing its job, and I guess the pressure build-up is a pretty serious issue. As of 11:39am Thursday (5 Feb-- happy birthday to Katie Whorf, Tony Fischer, and Derek Fawcett), the neuro team here has decided that they don't want to do a biopsy of the growth in my spine...they want to move ahead with some sort of extraction surgery. I, for one, am on board with this idea. In order to do a biopsy, they would have to make a 4-inch incision, move some bones around, and then open up my spinal cord...just to extract a little sample of the tissue to figure out what it is exactly. My feeling is this: I don't give a flying fuck what it is! I just don't want it in my spinal cord! Period, the end!! So, the neuro team is going over my MRIs with a proverbial fine-tooth comb, and figuring out the best way to get this growth out of my body.
I've already told the back story to this whole scenario about 17 times, just in the past 48 hours, so should anyone have questions about my symptoms and when they started, be patient, and I'll post something more thorough later.
In terms of my disposition, I'm cautiously optimistic. (Any campaign people remember that feeling?) I have no reason to assume anything but the best. Some of my hometown friends have had more than their fair share of awfulness from spinal cord issues...I'm not about to add to that.
If you would like to come visit, please do so. It's BYOB though.
Thanks for all of the support and well-wishes up to this point!
OHHH Dana... I guess the silly question, "Are you okay?" Is kinda moot.
ReplyDeleteIf you want company, I will surely come. I lost my job last week and really have little to do, other than work on moving, write my resume, and hunt for a new job, but as those things are OH SO BORING... I would rather challenge you to a game of scrabble.
If you are up to it... 859-620-2978...

ReplyDeleteWell I think this blog is just great. I will see your beautiful ass tomorrow at 12:30 PM as soon as my flight lands in Cincin. I am even willing to set foot in the Catholic affiliated hospital you've got yourself holed up in to provide sparkles, useless medical information and a running commentary on the day. I can imagine no other place that I would rather spend this weekend then the Christ hospital. See you in a few short hours.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting you this weekend. Done and done. Love you bunches! xoxo
