To pull me out of what was shaping up to be a gray and icky day, Katie took me to a spa and not only were we pampered, but we also got two delicious doses of serendipity.
1) My aesthetician, Janice, was doing the preliminary interview before giving me a facial, and so I told her what's been up. And as luck would have it, Janice was in recovery from having a liver tumor removed! She gave me some very good advice about the more difficult aspects of a medical shitshow-- advice that really shifted my mood for the better, and advice that should've been obvious to me a few days ago.
2) Katie is a major sushi aficionada, and I'm a total neophyte...I don't know much about Cincinnati's foodie scene, let alone its sushi scene. Katie's been doing some research on where best to get her fix, and one of the manicurists at the salon happens to be married to the head sushi chef at The Waterfront in Covington! So, we'll get to see some sweet knife skills (I could watch that all day and never tire), and Katie will be able to quiet the voices in her digestive system that demand raw fish.
I love when those little pockets of good fortune present themselves-- like, "Yep, Dana, you were right to listen to Katie today when she suggested a little spa day, and here's the proof." Let's be honest: there's little I like more than being right!
Dana, I don't believe in luck - you 'just happen" to meet certain people for a reason. Janice was not luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had some real R&R today. And thank you Katie for being such a wonderful facilitator. If you want some good sushi without bailing out the pocketbook, hit Tai Nam Tip or Kubuto. At least your pocketbook won't cut and run screaming.
Tupac rules.
ReplyDeleteSushi should be pricey....you're ingesting something raw (and safe).
Believe what you want, because it frankly is no one else's business.
Lots of pontificating from reading the comments.......
