Another little dose of serendipity...after posting that my mom and I played the little game of listing things for which we are thankful, one of the movie channels has started showing High Fidelity on a loop, and guess what book I just finished reading for the zillionth time...yep, High Fidelity. (I am never not impressed with movies that can really deliver the goods on a great book. Nick Hornby has gone 2-for-2 in my opinion...and no, I don't count the movie Fever Pitch as as adaptation of his book because one is about Red Sox baseball and the other is Arsenal football/soccer...although I loved that movie, too, and have yet to see that Colin Firth thing from the 90's.) It appears my whole world is being informed by the top 5 list.
Anyway, I'm going to push that forward into my blog. I spent a wonderful night with my high school friends a few years ago, sitting around a fire at Katie's family's cottage, spouting off random top 5s...and since that night had nothing to do with surgery, muscle spasms, narcotics, pain, or really any kind of discomfort...yep, game-time.
Top Five Things to Which I'm Looking Forward:
5. being completely off of steroids (I have like 10 days left, cannot wait)
4. being able to put my hair in a ponytail without PAIN or any insane clicking or popping noises
3. having fully functional innervation on my entire right side (for real, my last three fingers are ridiculous)
2. getting a dog (BTW, Lyle has been adopted; good news for Lyle!)
1. being able to drive, flipping through the radio, cruising down I-75, back to the life that's awaiting me
Hmm...looking at that, there are about 45 other things that I could list. I suppose it's better to be in this position of having things to happily (albeit impatiently) anticipate, than a list of things to totally dread. I mean, I'm pretty sure I've gotten through the part that most people dread...even if that's not really the case, that's what I'm putting under my pillow tonight!
