I went bowling again tonight-- it was just as much fun as the other day, but I'm pretty sure twice in one year is enough for me. It'll probably take 364 days to get the smell of bowling alley out of my clothes. I was there with some high school friends, which has yet to stop being a treat. That awful, and awfully catchy, Miley Cyrus song, "Party In the U.S.A.", was playing and I couldn't help but think about high school dances. One of the girls that was there tonight was Veronica, who was sort of my partner-in-crime for several of my extracurricular activities. We were on prom committee, student government, and Make-A-Difference Day committee together, and we had a ton of classes together. And I told Veron to think of all of the proms this year that will have that song as the theme. (Our prom's theme was a Dave Matthews Band lyric. It was a GREAT idea at the time, but has since become somewhat laughable. So, perfect prom theme!) Oh, good stuff. I miss seeing Veronica every day-- she wasn't my closest friend in high school, but we were definitely in the trenches together, making things happen.
Earlier, I had lunch with Atlanta Laura. Holy shit. This is the point at which I'd muse at how easily I forget the great things about someone or something...but, no, in this case, I hadn't forgotten how awesome Laura is or how great it is to share a meal with her. It was just as great as I remember it. No overselling. For real: I HAFTA find a way to live closer to my Atlantans. Life is better when I can have coffee with Andy or burritos with Laura, bottom line.
Tomorrow is chock-full of activities (luncheon with my holiday colleagues, tea with an old friend, dinner with the Atlantans), and I have to get packed for a long weekend in Cinci. (Time to say farewell to the Garbon homestead. Sniffle, sniffle.) AND, I bought the DVD of the first 13 episodes of Glee [like I'd wait another day, pssshhh], so I have that to do, too. Yep, chock-full. Booked solid.
