Gchat

One of my favorite little corners of the internet is Gmail. And one of its greatest features is Gchat, an instant-messaging utility. During the recovery process, I had long conversations with friends via Gchat. I don't know if they got much work done-- all of them were at their respective jobs-- but we all had fun. Lately, when I check my e-mail, I'll see who is available to chat, and if my friend Laura is signed on, I'll start Gchat-serenading her. (I just start typing lyrics to a song and send them as fast as I can. Today's song was "Tricky" by Run-DMC.) Earlier tonight, I was Gchatting with a friend from Kalamazoo and this was our dialogue, edited for anonymity.

me: I am doing some volunteering for John Cherry's gubernatorial campaign, and I'm thinking I could maybe get some internship business happening for it.
she: Is he the Lt. Gov.?
11:34 PM me: yep
and he's running in 2010 for Granholm's position
she is term-limited
she: My dad is good friends with him. He is a member of my Dad's Church.
11:35 PM me: are you f-ing kidding?
she: no way dude.
I have met him before.
me: Is he nice?
she: his whole family is.
11:36 PM have you not met him?
me: Ok, even though I've lived in Michigan for the majority of my life, I know very little about Michigan state politics. No, I've never met him.
My only contact with his campaign is via e-mail with one of campaign staffers.
11:37 PM she: you wanna meet him or something? I was talking to his daughter about how busy he was like 2 Sundays ago.
Weird!
11:38 PM me: Holy ass...YES.

Reason #837 that I lovelovelove Gmail.

That's it for tonight--- it's almost 4am and I am not awake for any cool reason.
