Today's puzzle didn't go much better. I don't want to talk about it.
Let's play a quick game of High Point-Low Point.
High points:
1. I deposited a paycheck (from picking up little shifts in the stockroom at my mom's store) in my checking account today and was pleasantly surprised that I was NOT in the red prior to the deposit. I may actually be able to - GASP! - work down some bills.
2. I took a nap this afternoon-- I had spent the morning and early afternoon in a chilly stockroom, and my neck and shoulders were SHOT after a while, so I went home to rest for a few hours before heading back-- and this nap was ridiculous. My parents keep their house on the cool side and use space heaters when necessary. I curled up on the living room couch, positioned the space heater at my feet, and was unconscious within about 4 seconds. Oh, I love a good nap. I know that they can screw with your circadian rhythm and do other harmful things, but allow me to paint a picture. I am sore, cold, and tired, and the day is chilly, drizzly and gray-- the couch is covered in smushy pillows, and the space heater emits this soothing white noise alongside that delicious warmth. COME ON-- those are prime napping conditions.
3. I was listening to my iPod while I finished the last of the project I worked on, and as I signed and dated the paperwork (which is the last task), Jay-Z's "99 Problems" started playing. I literally strutted from the stockroom to the office. I love a good victory lap, even if the victory is tiny.
Low points:
1. Mama Jan needed help with her new iPod. I HATE being tech support.
2. A friend had an interview today for a potentially kick-ass position, and I haven't heard from him-- for some reason, I think this is bad news.
3. Irina won Project Runway Season 6. Uncool, judges. Very uncool. It was very obvious that she designed her collection with the audience at Bryant Park in mind-- as though she ignored her own artistic voice in favor of what would get the most accolades. That seems like a good way to win, but it runs counter to what PR purports to do for young designers. It was awesome seeing Tim Gunn come unglued. I love Tim Gunn. "I have to say, you look a little...disabled by this."
I am looking forward to this weekend-- just why, I don't know.
